Augie's is part of an ongoing miracle. It's in a building where, in 1994, a small local church reclaimed an historic Chico church building and restored the church portion to its original use. St. Augustine of Canterbury Anglican Church now dedicates a newer portion of this building for use as Augie's Fine Coffee & Tea, a commercial coffee house, giving its profits to God's Kingdom through church works and local charities.
It's Good to Be HereBut why? Well, for one thing, the best coffee in Chico. Check it out. No one else offers this quality of all organic coffee, roasted to perfection, served with style, in both brewed coffees and espresso drinks from Pacific Bay Coffee. See our information about our Coffee page. We also have great tea, by Mighty Leaf Tea, that is all whole leaf, natural & sewn into silk bags instead of dust and sweepings stapled or glued into bleached paper. Check out our variety & our Tea page. Our baked goods come daily from Tin Roof Bakery of Chico. This great local bakery takes all whole ingredients & puts out the best in brownies, cookies, kuchen (a German fruit-bread), and muffins. We make sandwiches and wraps daily with ingredients from S&S Natural Foods, the Butcher Shop for you. We think they're some of the best sandwich values in town. Fruit Smoothies are all Dr. Smoothie, from their 100% all fruit line, with no added sugars or preservatives: just pureed fruit. And our cold beverage case is always stocked with the best from Knudsen's Natural fruit juice drinks, from juices to Spritzers to Natural Brew.
People are our businessWe intend that you, our customer, be pleased with the service and environment you get at Augie's as well. We don't want you to buy and rush off, but stay and enjoy the fireplace, bubbling fountain, and music--always classical, baroque, renaissance, and Celtic folk. Or live music, on selected nights. We strive to give you the friendliest and most helpful personable service across our counter that you can get. If anything is not to your liking, please let us know.
Does this place just support a church? It may look like it, because Augie's is a fully-owned subsidiary of St. Augustine of Canterbury Anglican Church, in whose building Augie's is housed. However, this work was founded on a principle to fund local charities, not our church. You can see how it works on our page regarding the Business.
